The following block paving materials are considered acceptable for use within the highway, subject to appropriate skid resistance (PSV) requirements and approval of the detailed design.

Materials- Wider use within layouts Block Paving

  • Concrete
  • 200 x 100 mm rectangular block
  • All colours to be used- Natural, buff, grey/charcoal or brindle

Tegula Block Paving

  • Concrete
  • To be laid in herringbone pattern within roads. Stretcher (straight) may be laid in cycleways and footways.
  • All colours to be used- Natural, buff, grey/charcoal or brindle
  • 240 x 160 mm rectangular block
  • 160 x 160 mm square block
  • 120 x 160 rectangular block

Materials- Modest use within layouts to enhance design

  • Conservation Block Paving
  • Concrete
  • To be used sparingly, as design feature
  • To be laid in stretcher (straight). (Can be laid in herringbone pattern if decided on wider use).
  • 240 x 160 mm rectangular block
  • 160 x 160 mm square block
  • All colours to be used- Natural, buff and grey/charcoal

Conservation Setts

  • Concrete
  • To be used sparingly, as design feature
  • To be laid in stretcher (straight)
  • 150 x 100 mm rectangular block
  • 150 x 150 mm square block
  • One colour only
